The ATO has changed the rules. Cash flow discipline is not an option.

And workshops that adapt quickly can come out stronger. Here’s what’s changing, and how to prepare.

WHAT’S CHANGING

1.     Closure of the ATO Free Portal

The ATO will be closing its Small Business Super Clearing House. For many workshops, this has been a simple, no-cost way to process super payments. Its closure means businesses will need to transition to an alternative clearing house solution.

2.     Payday Super Compliance

As we have discussed in this blog, super payments will move from quarterly to every pay cycle, effective 1 July 2026. Super effectively becomes part of your regular payroll process, rather than a separate periodic task.

This means:

  • More frequent super payments

  • Greater compliance risk

  • Increased reliance on integrated systems

WHAT MEGABUS IS DOING TO SUPPORT YOU

To support customers through this transition, Megabus is putting the necessary foundations in place.

Alignment with SuperChoice

Megabus is partnering with SuperChoice, an industry-leading clearing house provider, to offer a reliable and compliant solution for managing super payments.

Marlin HR readiness

Marlin HR is being updated to align with Payday Super requirements, ensuring that super processing integrates smoothly with payroll. It will be offering a new feature, called Payday Assist, to help automate your super payments and be compliant to the ATO. Payday Assist will automate the payment to SuperChoice Clearing on your behalf when you run payroll. Because it will be automated, your agreed super total for your payrun will be debited from your account at the time of submission. It is essential that you ensure sufficient fund are available. This added feature will save you hours from having to manually pay super to comply with legislation.

Ongoing support and guidance

We will be working with customers throughout the transition, providing updates, guidance, and resources to help you stay on track.

Certainly, workshops that adjust early can prepare their business for change and mitigate disruption. If you are thinking about how this change may affect your business, it is worth starting the conversation now.
