Megabus Pty Ltd and associated entities are committed to the privacy of our customers and will carefully protect any confidential information they provide to us. We will not collect sensitive or private information about our customers without their express consent. If such consent is sought we will firstly notify the customer and provide details as to how the information sought is to be used or disclosed.

To protect and to guarantee customers' privacy, we have an appointed Privacy Officer to monitor our compliance with privacy obligations imposed by law and assumed by us voluntarily.

Our Obligation to our Customers

What Information do we Collect?
From time to time we collect information directly from customers. This includes the personal and financial information required so that we can provide a service to customers and is often used in connection with the granting of credit facilities and for the purposes of fulfilling contractual arrangements.

We sometimes collect information about customers from outside sources (e.g. credit reporting agencies, customer's representatives and publicly available sources of information).

We will not disclose any of this information without permission from the person to whom it relates, unless we are required by law to do so.

There may be other information we collect which does not identify a customer personally, which we collect in checking our levels of service to our customers. This may result from someone visiting our website.

We sometimes collect information in surveys. Any such information collected will be used only to improve our services. The surveys are strictly confidential.

We will not reveal to, or pass on to any third party, a customers' personal information without consent from the customer.

How do we Use Customers' Personal Information?
If a customer does not provide us with the personal information we need, we may not be able to provide the services requested or services to the level to which we aspire.

We use information to:

  • for our internal administration purposes,
  • to communicate with customers more effectively
  • to improve our internal systems,

  • to carry out credit checks, and
  • to improve our marketing and promotional activities.
Our staff access to customers' personal information is limited.

Customers have a right to access the information we hold about them. If a customer contacts us we may ask for some form of identification before any personal information is discussed.

We take proper measure to protect customers' personal information but sending and receiving information over the internet is at the user's own risk and we can give no assurance that information sent over the internet is secure.

Other than as a part of our normal business operations we will not allow our systems to be used by you or anyone else to send unsolicited email.

We ask that customers advise us if they detect any error in the information we hold about them and of any changes we need to make to keep our records up to date and accurate.
